BCTGM To Support Richard Trumka for AFL-CIO President

Kensington, Md.--BCTGM International Union President Frank Hurt announced today that the BCTGM will be supporting Richard L. Trumka for AFL-CIO President at the Federation’s Convention in September.
In discussing the endorsement, President Hurt explained, "We believe that Rich Trumka is the best person to lead the AFL-CIO in these extremely challenging times for working families and organized labor. Rich is a proven strong leader who embodies the very best of the American labor movement.
"Rich's entire adult life has been devoted to protecting the rights and advancing the cause of working people. He has the intellect, integrity, compassion and perseverance to be the strongest and most effective voice in the nation’s capital on behalf of organized labor. The BCTGM proudly endorses Richard Trumka for AFL-CIO President.
"We also take this opportunity to commend John Sweeney for his outstanding tenure as AFL-CIO President and a career devoted to working men and women. The BCTGM extends our very best wishes to Brother Sweeney and his family," Hurt concluded.
