Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
For nearly a quarter century, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has led an extraordinary effort to end hunger in America through its “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.” This is the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Throughout the years, the BCTGM has been proud to support the NALC campaign because we firmly believe that hunger in America is a crisis that can and must be eradicated.
This crisis has become more acute as more and more working families find it harder to make ends meet and older Americans find their Social Security and retirement benefit dollars are stretched further than ever before.
Sadly, in our society those hit the hardest by hunger are children.
Therefore, we are asking all our locals, members and families to actively participate in this year’s “Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.”
Please put a bag of unopened, non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers the mail on Saturday, May 13th. The carrier will do the rest.
Once collected, the food will be back to the postal station, sorted and delivered by union volunteers to area food banks or pantries for needy families.
BCTGM members have a long and proud tradition of charitable giving in our communities. Thank you in advance for your support!
